For the Love of Teenie Weenies!
It all started when an animal-loving young lady walked into a shelter in Canada one cold January morning a few years ago. She knew a lot about dogs...but boy was she in for a surprise when she came across a teenie-weenie - a Miniature Long-Hair Dachshund that needed a new home (and a bath and a haircut). How hard could it be?! After all, she had dogs all her life...
The Inspiration
So the story goes...the young lady adopted the 6 year-old Miniature Long-Hair Dachshund from the SPCA and she soon realized that this little guy was unlike any dog she's ever met! So he may have had a bit of an attitude problem, and clearly he had been through some stuff. The young lady was a bit overwhelmed but also pleasantly surprised with this teenie weenie's BIG personality - incredibly clever, playful, loyal, emotionally intelligent, and not to mention, a top-notch door-bell with fur! Such a BIG bark for such a small dog!
With a lot of persistence, consistency and love and attention, this little rescue weenie became accustomed to his new home, and quieted down as the self-proclaimed door-bell that he is. It's truly amazing what a little bit of love can do! They became the best of friends and the young lady's unexpected passion and appreciation for the Dachshund breed began.
It was that little rescue-weenie that stole her heart. She fell in love with the Dachshund breed and couldn't see her life any other way. She was so inspired by this clever, resilient, courageous, affectionate, playful, loyal little hot dog, that she wanted to share the Dachshund experience with other families, too!
Bringing joy and laughter to others through the love of Dachshunds. She got this crazy idea to expand the teenie-weenie family of one Dachshund, to two (Gus-Gus the Sire), then three (Cinderella the Dam)!
Fast-forward to present day, that little rescue weenie is hanging out in the background as his housemates, Gus-Gus and Cinderella are Mommy and Daddy to the newest litter of 5 Miniature Smooth-Hair Dachshunds right here in Bermuda!
With this local Breeders love of animals, and her love of Dachshunds - we are ready with this litter of 5 to spread some puppy love around the island! And the story continues...
